U16s back to winning ways

The pitch was awful, the wind was worse than Grandads and the opposition were committed and physical so we knew we had to be up for this from the start. We showed our togetherness as a squad in a circle before kick off and started well causing their goalkeeper many problems dealing with balls into the box having to cope with the wind. Tyreces goalbound effort from out wide on the left ended in the back of the net after the keeper failed to judge the effort. Fc Premier were unfortunate to have handball given against them on the edge of the box and even more unfortunate to see the resulting free kick deflect into the net, 1-1 on half an hour. The Wednesfield goalkeeper made many good saves but right on the stroke of half time he could do nothing to stop Joshua Capelin
's rocket of a free kick smashing in off the bottom of his right hand post. Second half started fairly even and I always felt like Fc Premier would need another goal and that came in true style, surrounded by 3 players Thierry Gordon
managed to create enough space for himself to hit a powerful but measured dink right into the top corner, 3-1. Wednesfield forced Harley Gibbs
into a few really good saves and also hit the cross bar but Fc Premier were also denied by some great goalkeeping.
A performance for us all to be proud of, the referee pointed out Tyrece Junior
as man of the match and although every player was a contender I can’t disagree with that choice.
Well done all.
